1. Introduction
Welcome to Pawmony ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and the privacy of your pets' data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the Pawmony mobile application (the "App").
Please read this policy carefully. By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with the terms of this policy, please do not use the App.
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy and, where appropriate, by sending an in-app notification.
2. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of information:
Account Information: When you create an account using Sign in with Apple, Google, or email/password, we collect your name, email address, and a unique user identifier. If you sign in with Apple's "Hide My Email" feature, we receive a relay email address.
Pet Profile Data: Information you voluntarily provide about your pets, including name, species, breed, date of birth, weight, photos, microchip ID, medical records, vaccination history, medications, dietary notes, and behavioral notes.
Health & Care Records: Medication schedules, dosage logs, vaccination records, vet visit notes, symptom logs, litter tracking entries, and walk history including GPS route data.
Device Information: Device type, operating system version, app version, and device identifiers (used solely for diagnostics and crash reporting).
Usage Analytics (optional): Anonymous, aggregated data about app feature usage to help us improve the product. This can be disabled in Settings → Privacy & Data.
Location Data: GPS coordinates when you use the walk tracking, discover nearby places, or geo-fence features.
Camera and Photo Data: Images you capture or select when using the Poison Analysis feature, adding pet profile photos, or documenting health records.
Push Notification Tokens: A device token to deliver medication reminders, vaccination alerts, and walk reminders to your device.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- Provide and improve the App: To deliver core features including medication tracking, health records, walk mapping, sitter sharing, and AI-powered insights.
- Personalization: To tailor care checklists, training plans, and AI recommendations to your specific pets' species, age, and health profile.
- Reminders and Notifications: To send scheduled reminders for medications, vaccines, walks, and other care activities you have configured.
- AI Analysis: To send anonymized images and text queries to our AI provider (xAI Grok) for poison analysis, health insights, and discover searches. Your pet's personally identifiable information is not sent to AI providers.
- Sitter Sharing: To generate one-time access codes that allow a trusted sitter to view your pet's care profile, medication schedule, and emergency contacts.
- Microchip Registry: To list your pet's microchip number in Pawmony's community registry so shelters and veterinarians can contact you if your pet is found.
- Lost & Found: To display your reported lost pet to other users in your area.
- Analytics and Improvement: If you have opted in to anonymous analytics, to understand aggregate usage patterns and improve the App.
- Legal Compliance: To comply with applicable laws, regulations, and law enforcement requests.
We do not use your information for targeted advertising and we do not sell your personal data.
4. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We share information only in the following limited circumstances:
Service Providers: We use the following trusted third-party services to operate the App:
- Firebase (Google LLC) — authentication, cloud database (Firestore), crash reporting, and analytics.
- xAI (Grok API) — AI-powered insights, poison analysis, and discover searches. Only anonymized text or image data relevant to the specific query is sent.
- RevenueCat — in-app purchase management and subscription status.
- Apple CloudKit — optional iCloud sync and Play Dates public database.
Sitter Sharing: When you generate a sitter access code, the designated sitter can view your pet's care profile. You control what information is shared and can revoke access at any time.
Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required by law, subpoena, or other legal process.
Business Transfer: If Pawmony is acquired by or merged with another company, your information may be transferred to the new owner, subject to the same protections described in this policy.
5. Data Retention
- Account Data: Retained until you delete your account.
- Pet Health Records: Retained until deleted by you or upon account deletion. Anonymized veterinary health records may be retained for up to 7 years as required by applicable veterinary record-keeping regulations.
- Walk and Location History: Retained until you manually delete individual walks or delete your account.
- Analytics Data (if opted in): Aggregated and anonymized data may be retained indefinitely as it cannot be linked back to you.
After account deletion, we will delete or anonymize your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
6. Security of Your Information
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information:
- Data in transit is encrypted using TLS 1.2 or higher.
- Data at rest in Firebase Firestore is encrypted by Google Cloud.
- Authentication credentials are managed by Firebase Authentication and never stored in plain text.
- Sitter access codes are single-use and time-limited.
While we take reasonable steps to protect your information, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. If you believe your account has been compromised, please contact us immediately at privacy@mypawmony.com.
7. Your Rights and Choices
- Access: Download a copy of your data via Settings → Privacy & Data → Download My Data.
- Correction: Update your pet profiles and account information directly within the App.
- Deletion: Delete individual records within the App, or permanently delete your account via Settings → Privacy & Data → Delete Account.
- Opt-Out of Analytics: Disable anonymous usage analytics via Settings → Privacy & Data → Anonymous Usage Analytics.
- Push Notifications: Disable via your device's Settings → Notifications → Pawmony.
- Location Access: Revoke via Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Pawmony.

8. California Residents — CCPA Rights
If you are a California resident, the CCPA grants you additional rights including: Right to Know, Right to Delete, Right to Correct, Right to Opt-Out of Sale or Sharing (we do not sell data), Right to Limit Use of Sensitive Personal Information, and Right to Non-Discrimination.
To submit a verifiable consumer request, use the in-app controls or email privacy@mypawmony.com with subject line "CCPA Request." We will respond within 45 days.
9. European Residents — GDPR Rights
If you are located in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, GDPR grants you rights including: Access, Rectification, Erasure, Restriction of Processing, Data Portability, and the right to Object to processing.
To exercise your GDPR rights, email privacy@mypawmony.com. We will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
10. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under these ages. If you believe your child has provided us information without consent, contact us at privacy@mypawmony.com.
11. Third-Party Services

12. Location Data
Location is collected for walk tracking, nearby search (dog parks, vets, groomers), and geo-fence alerts. We request "When In Use" permission by default. Background location is only requested if you enable geo-fencing. You can revoke location access at any time in your device settings.
13. Camera, Photos, and AI Analysis
Camera access is used for Poison Analysis (ChewCam/PetCam) and pet profile photos. When you use Poison Analysis, the image is sent securely to xAI Grok Vision API for that single analysis only — we do not store images on our servers.

14. Push Notifications
Pawmony may send push notifications for medication reminders, vaccination due-dates, walk reminders, and sitter check-ins. Notifications are delivered via Apple Push Notification service (APNs). You can manage or disable notifications in your device settings at any time.
15. In-App Purchases and Subscriptions
Pawmony offers a free tier and Premium subscription. All payment processing is handled by Apple's App Store — we never see or store your payment card details. Subscription management uses RevenueCat. Refund requests must be submitted through Apple's App Store.
16. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date and display an in-app notification. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
